Oregon Children’s Theatre Offers Youth Performances and Classes

With nearly three decades’ executive experience in the technology sector, Dominic O'Dierno (ODeirno) is the head of Amare, a consulting firm for early-stage companies. As a philanthropist, Dominic O'Dierno is a donor to the Oregon Children’s Theatre (OCT) of Portland.

OCT was founded in 1988 with a belief in the transformative power of theater and storytelling. Over the years it has mounted productions ranging from Charlotte’s Web and A Wrinkle in Time to Winnie-the-Pooh and Tomas & The Library Lady.

Four times a year, OCT sponsors the Acting Academy for children and youth ages 3 through 18. After school and on weekends, theater professionals create a positive learning atmosphere that sets goals and celebrates accomplishments. Friends and family can see their loved ones display their talent at the end of classes. Students may also take a playwriting course.

For aspiring actors 14 and up, OCT offers Young Professionals. Participants learn theatrical skills in college-level workshops and master classes. In addition to getting tickets to OCT productions, students learn how to audition and may take part in apprenticeships.
